Commission Number Two and a glimpse of a Zine in the works!

Two things today to make up for the fact that I didn't post last week. I had reached a point where I needed to dedicate a whole weekend to my garden, which is slowly coming together. Sadly it wasn't fun flower planting or anything like that, or I would have probably uploaded a few snaps to make up for my not uploading any Illustrations. Nope it was man work, or more precisely - bricklaying! Harder than it looks and definitely doesn't make for interesting viewing on a blog about Illustration! :)

Anyways I'm here now!

And here I have Commission Number 2, which is another Victorian Terrace. I'm pretty sure I could never get sick of drawing these!










Just as I completed this Illustration, I have been sent some absolutely stunning photos of my next house to draw. It's not a terraced house which will be a change and a challenge I think. Absolutely can't WAIT to start on it.

I've also been adding this finishing touches to my first zine this week, and am awaiting the dreaded price quote from the printers. Perhaps I should elaborate on this topic, because I'll be honest, I can't remember how much or little I have said about it so far! My dream is to have a whole series of zines which are long street drawings which concertina up into a nice little A5 book. Here's a small glimpse of the one I have been working on (and the focus of my printer quote worries!) It would be a whopping five metres in length so I fully expect to receive an 'are you crazy' quote or at least something along those lines. And of course I can't sell them on if they are crazy expensive. So I may have to play around a bit more with this, and perhaps have the street in two halves. Will wait and see.




I'd really like these to work! I am new to the zine scene, so would very much love to hear any feedback on these. If you imagine one of my street scenes in between the front and back cover, you've got yourself a pretty good idea of what it will look like! I imagine it as the perfect format for my long drawings because it can be whatever you want it to be. Would you buy it? I think I would!
Which is usually how I gauge things :)

I'm expecting my next commission to take an enormously large amount of time, and it has to get to it's new home, so I don't think I'll be able to share that with you very soon at all. However I will be taking part in the Norwich ShopArt project soon and also should have some new wares to show you for the July Clutter City and Norwich Lane Street Fayre. Busy Busy Busy!
